Strawberry Smoothie Bowl
In my attempt to go back to healthy eating I figured it was time to share a smoothie bowl. It is essentially a smoothie but in a bowl with toppings. The fun part is the variety of toppings you can put on here. I just used some basic ones but I will give you some other ideas at the end. You can get so creative with this recipe by switching the fruits out for your favorites, make it kid friendly by letting them choose and add their toppings.
The key to making good smoothies is firstly, using frozen fruits versus adding ice to the blender. When you add ice you are adding extra liquid that will water down the smoothie so my tip is to use frozen fruits. The next obvious thing is to have a good blender that can work with the frozen fruits.
Ingredients
Frozen Strawberries – 1 Cup
Frozen Banana – 1
Honey/ Maple syrup/ Agave syrup – 1 Teaspoon or to taste
Milk/ Almond milk/ Soy milk – 3/4 Cup
Add all these items and blend well. You may need to stop and use a spoon in between to push the fruits down in between. Add more liquid if you find it too thick, a splash at a time. Then pour into a bowl and top with your favorite toppings.
Ideas for smoothie toppings:
Fresh Bananas/ Strawberries/ blueberries/ Raspberries
Pumpkin Seeds
Slivered Almonds
Coconut Chips
Sunflower Seeds
Carob/dark chocolate chips
Granola

The toppings are pretty forgiving and adds some texture to the bowl. Serve this cold and as soon as possible. I generally do not use much sweetner in my smoothies just because I find the bananas tend to have enough sugar but since the strawberries can be tart, I suggest adding some extra natural sweetener. This works well as dessert too, won’t tell you how I know!

Is it okay to leave it in the fridge for a while to get cold? For some reason I like smoothies and smoothie bowl cold rather than room temperature. I know there’s a frozen banana so I hope it’enough to keep it cold.

Yeah since I had the frozen fruits it was pretty cold for me. It has almost a frozen slushie consistency, pretty thick. The picture probably doesn’t do it justice lol probably started melting while I took the pic. Also I used cold milk so basically everything was cold or frozen already. I think you would be fine with it right away.
