Blueberry Banana Green Smoothie

I have grown quite fond of green smoothies and I find that it is the simplest way to get my fruits and vegetables in my diet. I like spinach the best in my smoothies because I cannot taste it. I do not add any sugar to this smoothie because the banana and the blueberries have enough natural sugars. If you want to add more sweetness add a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup. These additives will change the taste of the smoothie a bit. You can also substitute the milk for almond milk or any other milk substitute.

Milk/ Almond Milk – 3/4 Cup

Baby spinach – 1 cup

Banana – 1 frozen

Blueberries – 1 cup, Frozen

Blend all these ingredients well. If you find that it is too thick add another splash of milk. Serve cold.

If you have kids and they love smoothies and hate vegetables, this is a great way to give them a little boost. It tastes so good that it is hard to believe it is healthy! I peel and freeze my bananas when they start to go a bit ripe. This way they are perfect for the smoothie and I do not have to add any ice that waters the taste down. Try it once and see how you feel about the spinach in there.

Hope this will be a household favorite!

  1. Thanks for the tip, I always thought green veg was an odd thing to drink in a smoothie but if you can’t really taste it them I’ll give it a go (when the weather warms up a bit 😊)

Yes definitely do! The proportion matters to the fruits. So a cup I find is great! I will have other variations coming soon!

I love smoothies too. I even keep frozen fruit in the freezer as backup, so I am never without.
