Classic Banana Bread

I always love making banana bread because it is so simple to make and the smell as it bakes is just so amazing! So, I figured might as well share a classic like the Banana Bread. I make a simple one with some cinnamon and orange zest. These can be left out of the recipe and you can add chocolate chips or nuts if you would like! The combinations are endless.

Preparation Time – 20 Minutes

Cook Time – 1 Hour 


Really ripe bananas – 1 1/2 cup mashed  (around 5 medium)

White Sugar – 1 cup

Butter – 1/2 cup

Eggs – 2 beaten

A pinch of salt

All purpose flour – 2 cups

Baking Soda – 1/2 Teaspoon

Baking powder – 1 1/2 Teaspoons

Cinnamon – 1 Tablespoon

Orange Zest – 1 Teaspoon

Vanilla Extract – 1 Tablespoon


Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and grease your loaf pan. In a bowl combine the flour, salt and baking soda. In another large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Add the beaten eggs and mix well.


Combine dry ingredients and milk, mix well. Add vanilla extract, cinnamon and orange zest.


Now mix in the mashed up bananas.


Pour this into the greased loaf pan and put it in the oven to bake for an hour.


At the one hour mark insert a knife in the center and check to see if it comes out clean. If not, bake for another ten minutes but cover with foil otherwise it will brown too much. Take it out when done and let it cool for about an hour before you take it out of the pan and slice it.


This makes for the perfect snack or breakfast on the go! Slather some butter on it and pour yourself a hot cup of coffee or tea and enjoy. So the next time you are at the store and are tempted to buy a baked goodie, remember that this banana bread is easy and will not disappoint!
